Superdrol, Anabolic steroid or Pro hormone?

Superdrol was the commercial name given to the steroid methyldrostanolone. This version of the steroid includes the addition of c17-alpha methyl group which increases the bioavailability when taken as a oral steroid. Is this a prohormone or a steroid?

This steroid was never pursued upon its discovery in 1959 and so was never developed into a medication. Research into the steroid preparation was scarce and so it was never approved for use in humans.

In 2005, methyldrostanolone was released as an over-the-counter sports supplement in the United States. Although it wasn’t legal as a steroid for sale, this fell into a grey are of law as the steroid was never listed in the original laws controlling anabolic steroids. As such, it wasn’t legally classed as a steroid and so was sold legally.

The government clocked onto this and by early 2006, the manufacturer and distributor had decided to pull the supplement from the shelves fearing government intervention.

This steroid has been known to produce androgenic side effects and so acne and hair loss should not be overlooked.

Liver toxicity is likely with any oral steroid, especially Superdrug being a c17-alpha alkylated compound. Cycles should not exceed 6-8 weeks in order to prevent possible liver problems.

Superdrol is hard to find in today’s market. Production has ceased yet some clones or batches from the old lot may still be in circulation.
