Orabolin, Anabolic Steroid

Orabolin is the commercial name given to the oral anabolic steroid Ethylestrenol. Derived from nandrolone, this steroid is very similar in structure to Nilevar, with the absence of the oxygen molecule at the c3 position.

Ethylestrenol was first available as a steroid for sale between 1961 and 1964 and was manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant Organon. Many names have been used throughout steroid markets and one in particular “durabolin-Oral” suggesting that this be an oral cousin to durabolin.

Controversy enraged when Organon decided to promote Orabolin in Third-World countries. The advertising marketed the anabolic steroid as a treatment for malnourished children and claimed the drug would “help children gain full weight and height,” whilst “ensuring optimal assimilation of food.” This seemed to brush over the true issue of inadequate food supply and many viewed Organon’s actions as potentially dangerous and highly unethical.

As a bodybuilding agent, this steroid is often considered too weak an anabolic agent to take as seriously as its cousin, Durabolin. The anabolic to androgenic activity is very favourable to promote lean muscle without excessive side effects of water retention, however, the gains made with this steroid are a lot less that a similar cycle of Nilevar or Deca-Durabolin.

Ethylestrenol is aromatised by the body and converts to s synthetic estrogen with a high level of biological activity. The rate of aromatisation is so low, that this is still classed as a weak estrogenic steroid. Gynecomastia is possible during administration so an anti-estrogen will be necessary.

There will be suppression of endogenous testosterone production, as with any form of synthetic hormone. This may lead to a massive reduction in the size of the testes as a result of inactivity.

Some androgenic side effects will present themselves in higher dosed cycles.  Acne and hair loss should not be ignored when using this steroid in a dose sufficient to promote muscular gains.

Liver stress can e a concern, as with most oral anabolic steroids. This is the main reason that cycles are limited in length to 6-8weeks with a daily dosage of around 20-40mg(roughly 10-20 x 2mg tablets).

This steroid is no longer sought after as many bodybuilders have realised that the muscle gains can be increased on an identical cycle of Durabolin or Nilevar. For this reason you will not find this on the black market and bogus copies are few and far between.
