Just a month prior to the opening of the Olympic games in Beijing, the Bulgarians had already conceded the weightlifting category by entering not 1 of their 11 athletes. A surprise visit from the drug inspectors in an out-of competition check lifted the lid on the Bulgarians tightly kept secret.
During the out-of competition checks on June 8th and 9th, 11 athletes of their weightlifting team tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid Methandienone. Eight men and three women were found to have the substance present in the system and as a result, the Bulgarians decided to withdraw their team altogether.
Georgy Markov and Alan Tsagaev, two male Bulgarian competitors felt the firm hand of the law as they received lifetime bans from the sport as this was their second doping infringement. The others guilty of breaking doping laws received four year bans respectively.
Methandienone is an orally taken steroid that has been around since the 1960’s. It comes in a blue pill and has been used by bodybuilders to increase size and strength. With Methandienone being an androgenic-anabolic steroid, there are the obvious risks associated with any steroid such as hair loss, roid rage and even the dreaded man boobs can develop.
With all the safe alternatives on the market like Pro Anabolic, it is recommended that athletes look to sources other than to buy steroids for that performance enhancing edge.
