Bolt Dismisses Claims over Anabolic Steroid Use

With suspension and bans being handed out for positive dope tests, it seems impossible in the modern athletics world to get away with using banned anabolic steroids to enhance performance. We have reported recently on the Belarusian’s and the Bulgarians, both having athletes banned foe drug abuse.

In a conversation with Reuters, Usain Bolt cleared up the air on recent comments made by the former 100 meter champion, Carl Lewis.

Lewis dropped some controversial comments during his interview with Sports Illustrated. He highlighted the fact that Bolt managed to reduce his 100 meter time from 10 seconds flat in 2007 to 9.6 seconds in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Bolt’s impressive 9.6 sec 100 meter sprint set the new standard for sprinters and he insists it was achieved without steroids.

“I know I’m clean. I work hard for what I want,” said the 6-foot-5 sprinter.

Bolt says that hard training has got him in the condition he is in and responded to Carl Lewis by saying

“Carl Lewis can say whatever he wants. That’s just his opinion.”

Bolt has now set his sights on the London Olympics in 2012 to defend his championship.
