Bolfortan, Anabolic Steroid

Bolfortan is the commercial name given to the anabolic steroid testosterone nicotinate, derived from the primary male hormone testosterone. This drug was originally manufactured in Austria by a company called Lannacher Heilmittel GmbH in the 1960’s and 70’s and comes in injectable form.

This form of testosterone has a few structural alterations which gives bolfortan some unique characteristics. Fistly, a carboxylic acid ester is attached  to the 17-beta hydroxl group allowing this form of testosterone a long half life. This means that there is a prolonged time of release from point of administration allowing for less frequent injections.

When compared with other similar testosterone esters, this injectable form of the male androgen is not the best when desired goals are of size gains. As an injectable  testosterone, it is certain that testosterone nicotinate is an effective mass and strength increasing drug.

This injectable steroid, as with all forms of testosterone or such synthetic products, will suppress endogenous testosterone production. A proper PCT is required to restore hormone levels to normal after a cycle has finished.

Estrogenic side effects will occur during a steroid cycle with Bolfortan in a dose-dependant manner, high doses likely to exhibit strong sides if taken without an anti-estrogen. Water retention and fat retention with this drug make it not so ideal for cutting phases and is generally used with more success in bulking phases.

Doses for this steroid were recommended in men of around 200-400mg a week to promote muscle mass and strength gains. This steroid was never recommended for use in women as side effects like clitoral enlargement, voice deepening amongst hair growth and changes in skin texture.

As a steroid for sale, bodybuilders would have a job on their hands trying to find Bolfortan. The original and sole manufacturer ceased production of this compound and since the 90’s it has been unavailable, even on the black market
