Arnold Schwarzenegger Steroids

So, yes Arnold Schwarzenegger took steroids. Its not everyday we get to hear of a US governor admitting taking illegal drugs; but lets put it in some perspective;

Back in the seventies steroids were not illegal. Very little was know about them and their side effects. They were a new ‘supplement’ that was widely used and the norm within the pro circuit. PCT and cycle support were non-existent, as far as professionals like Arnold was concerned it was just something that they had to do to remain competitive and succeed in their chosen career.

We don't criminalise people who drink alcohol; even though in wasn't so long ago as that drinking alcohol was illegal in the US, and it could be said that taking steroids before they were illegal is the same principle in reverse.

To this day Mr Olympia and most other professional bodybuilding competitions do not test for steroids; the only ones that do are know as ‘natural competitions’; so you can make your own conclusion on what the competitors in Olympia are taking to remain competitive!

Does Arnold Schwarzenegger regret taking steroids? Personally I doubt it; winning Mr Olympia a record 7 times was the springboard for the rest of his successes; a Hollywood film star, state governor and successful businessperson.

A lot has been made of his heart problems being caused by steroid usage; however he was born with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve, which only has two leaflets and opposed to three in a healthy heart, and thus surgery would have been unavoidable at some point even without any steroid usage.
